Corner of prints lifting on mk4
  • My mk4 has been a workhorse since I bought it and I’ve had no issues with it, at all, until this week. Now my prints will lift on almost every corner, most noticeably in the front left corner of each part printed on the bed. I’m printing the same files using the same filament that I have been for the last several months, the only difference was that I’ve updated the firmware hoping it would help with the occasional WiFi issues I’ve had.

has anyone else noticed corner warping or parts not sticking as well after updating to the newest firmware?  Am I able to roll my mk4 back to an older firmware?

What is the regular cleaning routine you use for your print plate? Perhaps it just needs a thorough clean with hot water and dish soap? I think it is unlikely the problem is firmware-related.

Didn't experience this issue, running the latest firmware version. I clean the print plate after each print with cleaning alcohol and one a month with soap.

When I print with PETG I use a spray to let it stick beter to the plate.

Besides checking how clean the sheet is try moving the model in the slicer to a different position as you might have worn out the current position if you have reused the same gcode file lots of times.

I clean the bed off using alcohol after each print and then usually once a week I use dish soap and warm water to clean the whole bed. I have to do this routine religiously with my mk3s printers, specifically the few that use the textured beds. I haven’t had to do it much at all with the MK4, however I tried that thinking that was the issue but the corners still lift. It’s strange because it’s 4 identical parts that I print on each print and all 4 of them have started lifting on the corners. I figured it was a reach to think it was the firmware, but that is the only thing that has changed recently. As I mentioned earlier, I’m using the same gcodes, the same PLA filament, on the same printer. I’ve even swapped the print bed to the other side that has never been used after I cleaned it with dawn dish soap and it still lifts, but the parts themselves are stuck on the bed better than they’ve ever been. It takes quite a bit of force to pop them off now.

RE: Corner of prints lifting on mk4

The lower left corner always seems to lift the worst for me. I suspect the temperature is slightly lower at the corners of the sheet. And the front corners are more exposed to heat loss from drafts without an enclosure.

Things that help for me:

Position parts away from the lower left corner if it is a risky part.

I try to make sure my hands are clean when removing the sheet and minimize touching the top surface.

Design parts with rounded corners that are less likely to lift. Once a part starts lifting, it usually keeps lifting, so try to design to avoid the problem.

Print parts individually if they are prone to lifting. A full tray with many parts will take longer to print. Four 2 hour prints will be less likely to lift than a full tray running for 8 hours.

If you use a brim, set the separation gap to 0mm. It is a bit harder to remove, but holds the part down much better.
