UPDATE inquiry on the product lifespan
I saw on the form from 2021 a mk3 only lasts 10 000 to 20 000 hours how much do you expect out of a prusa mk4
Best Answer by cwbullet:
Two of my printers have well over 15000 hours, and one has over 20000 hours of printing.
The key to a long life is regular maintenance. I shut it down for an evening every month and spend a couple of hours cleaning, tightening, and lubing them all. Several parts have needed to be replaced, but they are still going strong.

RE: UPDATE inquiry on the product lifespan
Take a car: estimate the distance you will travel in the life of this car and set a typical average speed - then you will be amazed how little lifetime a car has (mind you: there are some services and inspections required)!
And it's the same with a printer: It lasts forever - if you want it to. Provided you take care of it and replace parts when necessary!
I don't think there will be any significant difference between a MK3 and a MK4.

I have a Mk2 - 2s - 2.5 - 2.5s that has been printing casually since 2017. A light 417+ days - 10,100 ish hours? Other than the original orange parts looking faded and old there is no discernible wear. Rods and bearing are as true as the day I installed and built.
I imagine if you keep your rig in a sandy garage you might have drastically different results.

No not a garage just a basement

Don't worry - my printers are placed in my workshop where I do a lot of woodworking, only one of my printers has a box. No problem for the printers if you oil the roods from time to time.
