Saving Live Adjust Z value on the Mk4
I print PETG with a Mini+ and recently added a MK4. With the Mini+ I seldom have bed adhesion issues regardless of where I place the object on the textured sheet. Usually when the bed cools down the part releases itself.
On the Mk4 I noticed that I have poor bed adhesion on the right most 10% area of the MK4 heat bed. I tried cleaning the sheet, setting lower first layer height, but neither solved the problem. What worked was manually using the Live Adjust Z feature at the start of the print and setting the value to -0.010. However, that value is not retained after the print. Is it possible to save the Live Adjust Z value on the MK4?
RE: Saving Live Adjust Z value on the Mk4
Many of us have noticed that the "always perfect" first layer is anything but—especially on the textured sheet with PETG—unless you manually adjust Live Z. Alas, at least to my knowledge there is no way to store this new value permanently. So while the MK3S was press start and go, the Mk4 needs babysitting ☹️

Can you comment on the first layer “always perfect” with PETG and satin sheet? Also how do ASA, PC and Flex perform for first layer? Do they need live adjust-z babysitting as well? Thank you!
RE:
I'll jump in. On the texture sheet, like others, I add about -.025 offset using the live-Z adjust. This has to be done for every print. I do it while its performing the purge line extrusion. On the Satan sheet, I get acceptable first layer quality, but it's not what I would call perfect, it's just better. When using the Satan sheet, I feel confident enough that I don't have to babysit the printer, with the texture sheet (my favorite), I don't dare start a print without making the adjustment. PLA works better, but sometimes it also needs help . I haven't tried ASA/ABS on the MK4 yet, but I expect the same problem as PETG.
Recently I have moved all my filaments into dry boxes. This has had a notable effect on probing accuracy, especially with PETG because it eliminated filament oozing, and has greatly diminished first layer and stringing problems for me.

I'd say PLA and Flex do best in my hands, PETG, PCCF, ASA need babysitting. Satin is better than textured. I don't really use a smooth sheet.

Super interesting. I've got 5t xl, and 2 MK4 printers. I tend to use Smooth sheet for PLA and then satin sheet for everything else. I've be extremely happy with the first layer stuff and I love not having to remember which sheet I loaded in any of the printers. I have a textured sheet but I've not used it in years. I also bought a smooth sheet for the XL, but I've only used it for one print so far. My xl was a fully assembled unit and my two MK4's were upgrades from MK3S+
I wonder if it has to do with the brand of the filament.
