Prusa Link WiFi Credentials

Hey Guys, Just wondering if there is anyway around using the auto generated bul#sh$t credentials. Surely we can set our own password?

Am i honestly forced to use 15 characters of numbers and uppercase/lowercase garbage?

I dont get it, why would the machine not be designed to allow us to set our own password?

Imagine if you installed windows on your computer and you are forced to login everyday  using a ridiculous password like HnsIbi7sTmhD7hd

it makes no sense?

RE: Prusa Link WiFi Credentials

Agree, it's a bit ridiculous, but I suppose it's because they need to keep the size of the firmware down. I would like to have an option to not have any password at all, though.

My workaround is to have a shortcut to http://<printer IP>/?pass=<password string>. It doesn't authenticate automatically, but at least I can copy the password from the URL in the browser directly to the popup login window.

Great idea!

This works: http://maker:<garbage  password>@<printer ip>/

Now that PRUSA is an established company charging a large premium for its products, this wifi thing is nuts. Its the worst implementation ever. After step 45 or so, I jst said screw it and gave up.  It should work like any other printer. Network discovery, auto configure, done. Major miss, and its still a bed slinger with no enclosure. All that aside, it does print nice.

With the latest firmware on my MK4, google-chrome offered to save the credentials for me, but only after I navigated away from the prusa link web page. I told it "yes, please save", and now the login form comes filled in with the credentials and I only have to click the login button.

Yep, it’s a pain, but once I got it working it has been kinda nice as my printer is in another room. With the latest firmware5.1.2 safari browser (even tho they recommend not using it?) keeps my password and logs me right in.  Because I have several WiFi/network devices Here in the studio , I have discovered if the printer has been off for a day or two,  it occasionally gets assigned a different ip 4 address, so I always  check it’s address when I turn the printer on…..but even then , when new network address is entered, it logs in and gets busy !
