One side of print is melted

Hello.

MK4 IS, Filalab PLA, 50% fill, 215degrees

It is the same part on the two pictures.

One side of the part has been melted, can't figure out whats wrong.

Like Diem said, first make sure the fan blades are clean. If the poor overhang quality persists, the easiest way to improve quality is to slow down print speed. This is definitely a cooling issue, cooling with the Mk3 and Mk4 is not equal on all sides so issues appear on the least cooled side first. 

Cut your your general printing speed in half (or try experimenting with conditional speed settings in the slicer for various degrees of overhangs). If that's not enough, go even slower. If the front looks perfect it should be possilbe to get the back to the same leve, if you just go slow enough (if the fan is working properly etc).

Either your fan/fan-duct need attention or you are printing in a draft that is interfering with cooling on one side.

I don't quite understand what do you mean by "printing in a draft that is interfering with cooling" , sorry.

The fan duct seems to be okay and other parts do not have this issue.

Curved overhangs are always more sensitive to this sort of issue.  Make sure the fan blades are clean, the shroud correctly aligned and protect the printer from air currents that might redirect the cooling air flow.

You might find thet rotating the part on the print sheet helps - or it may just move the problem elsewhere on the print.

Hello.

I actually figured that it is something regarding temperature/cooling.  I did some testing.

I printed with regualr MK4 profile (not the IS) the result got alot better.

Then i printed with regular profile and 80% speed it got a little bit better.

When i have time i will test with even lower speed.

But im thinking that maybe it is necessary to do somekind of airflow upgrade, had a quick look into printables, maybe something like this ?

Rather than modifying the printer cut the model in half vertically, print twice then joint.

I feel that jointing is another type of art. If you can recommend a good video i will look into it.

 

At the moment i can confirm that steppimg back to regular MK4 profile and reducing print speed to 50% the result is i would say good enough.

Left 50% right 80% speed.

@Thejiral answer is correct, but you can also go fast with this print but model need to have integrated supports which you later remove. support width should be 0.2mm if you use fusion360 got with ribs 😉

Should they be tighter ? Don't these leave marks if you remove them ?

Too dense in my opinion. Will it leave marks, it depends on material and how you remove them generally speaking its possible I had success with my project (prusament asa black and sharp knife to cut material).  The most important thing to keep in mind is to support the lowest layer, if it failed to print correctly then everything deposit on it will be out of shape.
