Newbie questions regarding sheets

Hi fellow community members,

I recently completed the assembly of my MK4 kit, and I must say, choosing Prusa was a fantastic decision! The assembly process was an awesome experience. Along with the kit, I ordered an extra sheet (Satin Powder-coated Steel Sheet).

As someone new to 3dprinting I have a few questions:

a) Is it acceptable to swap the hot sheet with a cold/fresh one immediately after a print has finished, without removing the actual print but allowing it to cool down elsewhere, to maximize print efficiency?

b) Can I safely remove the actual print at 40°C/104°F for both PLA and PETG?

c) Should I use 90% isopropyl alcohol on the Satin Powder-coated Steel Sheet after EVERY print, or only when it appears dirty?

d) Does the same cleaning procedure apply to the original/normal steel sheet?

Thank you all so much for your help and support.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎅🥂🎆

Warm regards,

Joachim

P.S. I apologize if these questions have been asked before; I did my best to search the forums but without much luck.

Best Answer by FoxRun3D:

1)   No problem with that.

2) don't see a problem with that either.

3) I use ipa between all prints but I know others are less religious about it.

4) yes

One thing I would add is, scrub your new sheets with hot water and dish washing liquid. And repeat it when you see adhesion issues. Many problems of adhesion reported here can be solved by taking the sheet to the sink.

Thanks a lot, fuchsr - I'll give both of them a good scrub! ✨
