MMU3
Any reviews or tests on the MMU3 at all? Interested to see how it performs.
Although I'm not too interested in mixed multicolor prints as such, it would be handy for switching colors automatically for layer colored printing rather then having to do it manually. However, even for layer colored printing, is a purge tower still printed for the full height of the print job? Can it not use the center infill to purge into?

RE: MMU3
It hasn’t been released yet let alone available for sale.
RE: MMU3
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure its not out yet just announced so you wont be seeing any reviews yet
RE: MMU3
No reviewers who are given early units for testing etc?

RE: MMU3
They probably are but I haven’t seen a single one show up yet.
RE: MMU3
I'll be one of the first ones to buy one, receive one, and bitch on these forums about it. I can guarentee it.
RE: MMU3
Yep, seeing myself there as well. Especially with the Bambu and AMS next to it, which works almost flawless for multicolor prints. (2 load failures of more then 30k swaps)

These are slicer settings, not MMU2 vs MMU3 features.
The answer is everything you ask about already exists as options, though a wipe tower that skips layers if not needed is still experimental.

Yes the slicer can be set to pause when a layer colour change is required - I’m referring to the manual process of physically unloading and loading the filament between changes. Slicer settings cannot do this, the MMU would need to be used if not done manually.

I’m confused. I thought you were asking about wipe to infill and if the wipe tower needed to be the full height of you were only doing layer changes, both in regards to MMU printing? But now you’re talking about manual filament color changes?

Joseph Prusa said in a Live that they will focus on fixing all the issues of MK4 and completing the XL accessories and firmware before moving on to MMU3.
RE: MMU3
Did they happen to mention which MK4 issues they were concentrating on??
It’s a long live and I skipped through most bits! Lol

RE:
MMU3 can purge to infill or purge to another model
But you may still need a purge tower, if there are colour changes in the top layers, because there simply is nowhere to purge to, in this instance
the purge tower only exists until the last colour change is complete.
Some of my prints only have colour changes in the first millimetre of height, so the purge tower is only 1mm tall
If I printed the same model with the logo on th top instead of on the textured bed, the purge tower would have been 30mm tall

RE:
What exactly has the MMU version/revision to do with the purge into infill?
That‘s a slicer option and will work with any MMU.
(great to use with the AMS too, but use ar least 3 perimeters, otherwise the different color of the infill will shine through the wall)

Joseph did not say much, basically mentioned the speed of networking, and the G-CODE compatibility with old MK3 sliced objects, and then said that on the new firmware they have been solved, and it is almost ready the version with input shaping.
But from what I read on the net and on this forum, they have basically two strange problems: an issue with some shipped printers that are noising like as the bearing would be broken, and another on the extruder load cell that sometime mess up the firmware and hits with a little too force the plate scratching it.
What is doing Prusa crazy is that those printers were Prusa assembled, so they are in strict contact with all the users that have the problem (it not affecting all the printers, otherwise it would have been too easy to be identified). Have a look on the appropriate topics on the forum.
RE: MMU3
This uncertainty of the readiness of the MMU3 just let me change my order from the upgrade to a new MK4 kit. I need the MMU not on every print - not even on the majority. But I do have some multicolor and/or printing with special support material which I do not want to lose for an unknown timeframe.
