MK4 without collision detection!
Hi,
I just saw a comparison of Prusa XL, MK3S, MK4 and BambuLab X1 and I was completely surprised to see that the MK4 (and its firmware) do not implement collision detection that has always be present on the MK3S. 😱
See here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/IZuZmy06b_c
- Can someone that has already received the MK4 with the updated firmware confirm this ?
BR
... that video didn't test-crash the Mk4, it was nudged forward. The Bambu test was obscured by the tester's hands so the result is indeterminable.
Cheerio,

I don't have a Mk4 but crash detection was always the first thing to turn off with my Mk3S printers…

Really ? Did you experienced problems with it when active ?
RE: MK4 without collision detection!
Yes. I found it to be way too sensitive. Frequently, it triggered but never fully recovered so I was left with artifacts. For a long time I thought maybe that's just how it has to be because crash detection sounds like an important and good feature. But then I just turned it off and hey, never had any issues in years of printing.

RE: MK4 without collision detection!
According to the Firmware 5.0.0 sticky in the Input Shaper forum, it says crash detection is turned off when using the high speed IS profiles. Which leads me to believe it is on normally. But, like Fuchsr, I have had mine off for years, and don't miss it.
RE: MK4 without collision detection!
Crashes are listed in the menu under "Info -> Print Statistics" (and support asked for them last time). So I would say that the MK4 has crash detection, but without the possibility to set it.

This MK4 accessory also states it has no collision detection: https://jobox.tech/pages/jobox-mk4-adapter-kit
Seems likely it will come out shortly in a firmware update?
