MK4 to Core One

Any news on the MK4 Core One update?

Is Prusa planning to release an update for our MK4?

I have heard nothing about this upgrade.  I suspect you will to upgrade to the S first and then go to the Core One.

RE: MK4 to Core One

So I had ordered and already gotten the MK4S upgrade kit to my kit built MK4 before the CORE One announcement. I am planning to upgrade to the CORE ONE and have my kit pre-ordered.

As someone who has done the MK4S upgrade there was really not that much to it.

1) Screen cover to a new injection modeled part that is completely cosmetic will have to be redone for the CORE ONE anyway which also has that added magnetic attachment.
2) Some improved PC-CF bel tension parts for the Y axis which wont apply to the CORE ONE
3) Improved PC-CF parts for the extrusion tensioner lever (which requires careful partial disasembly of part of the nextruder and updated PC-CF covers along with the updated MK4S cooling fan assembly. These parts are the ones I expect to really carry over to the CORE ONE
4) Installation of NFC antenna (those connectors were the worst part of the whole thing for many including myself) and a related revised cover to account for this. Again I expect these parts to carry over into the CORE ONE

Given how little there is to it it would not be all that hard to go straight to CORE ONE from MK4 assuming you had the few resused parts I called out above (and the CORE ONE cooling I THINK will be a little different too so perhaps not even all of the upgrades to the MK4S will carry over.

Guess it remains to be seen but if that direct from MK4 path is offered as a combined kit or if you have to just get both and skips the no longer applicable parts like the Y access belt tensioner stuff.

RE: MK4 to Core One

I’m keen to avoid waste and would go for a mk4 to core one upgrade, but I’d also want to purchase any parts for the upgrade that would be better printed in the new material.

im hanging fire until I can go a direct route (this was mentioned in the prusa blog a little while ago).

I think it would be best to ask the Prusa team themselves if they plan to release an update for our MK4 to Core One.

If you still have the original MK4 3D printer, we will also offer a bundle that will contain both the MK4S upgrade and the CORE One Conversion Kit – it’s necessary to have the “S” upgrade parts as they are used during the assembly of the CORE One.
