I can't believe how quick this forum now stops you editing your own post!
I wanted to add that I ordered a Mk4 kit within two minutes of receiving the announcement email and still nothing. Order status is still "New".

@olef you'd think the kits would be easier to ship out than the assembled printer....but it's the opposite the kits are taking longer to ship.
RE: Mk4 Kit Availability
What evidence are you basing this on? Sure they shipped later, but I see nothing to indicate that they are shipping slower than the assembled printers.

RE: Mk4 Kit Availability
I don’t know if they’re going slower, but in one of the Prusa videos, they talked about the kits, and how you would think they would be easier to send out, but they still have to do some QA testing on the parts, which is actually more than you would do on the parts in a completed model. Because you’ve assembled them, there is inherently some testing being done if the printer actually works.
What evidence are you basing this on? Sure they shipped later, but I see nothing to indicate that they are shipping slower than the assembled printers.

Information? It's simple logic. The Kits should be easier to count out the parts label it box it up and ship it out. Assembled items have to be assembled by a technician or different technicians, tested and boxed up carefully before shipping. Think of Legos which is easier assembling a fully built lego building and packaging it carefully before shipping. OR having some follow instructions and assembling on sight.
RE: Mk4 Kit Availability
Here's my $0.02. If you guys think you are upset because of the wait for your kits (and mine. I'm in line too) just think about how upset you'd be if your kit arrived with poorly written assembly instructions. Some of you I'm sure could assemble the MK4 blindfolded and without instructions. And there are others who will need to be told exactly what to do. It only takes a few of the second category to be vocal about their assembly experience to turn the release of kits into a worse PR disaster than a slipped ship by date.

RE: Mk4 Kit Availability
joseth has always been a secret squirrel about shipping dates after 6 years of it nothing changes
RE: Mk4 Kit Availability
Not nice. Name-calling should be above you. My question is legitimate. If one has the proof, post it. It is conjecture; it is not helpful. The kits seem to be flowing out. I see no evidence that it is slower than the assembled kits. Also, we do not have the volume of kits to assembled, so it is near impossible to tell which is shipping faster.

I am not sure you understood the two posts. It was implied the kits are taking longer to ship. I asked, "What evidence does anyone have that the kits take longer to ship?" My point is that we do not have any.

I think this is a language issue. I think what you typed was not exactly what you meant. I took it as you were saying that currently the kits are taking longer to ship than the assembled printed and you meant that over all that it took longer to start shipping. That is not completely clear from your first post.
The bottom line is that the kits took longer to start shipping because the instructions had to be completed. I suspect based on my exposure of other assembly and instruction manuals, that it takes quite a few weeks to write them and test them with regular joes.

RE:
I don't think they would delay shipping just because of the assembly instructions. If you take look at them, a lot of it is copy/paste work from the MK3S+ manual. Also some parts of the MK4 manual have been copied and pasted to other areas of the manual too, it's easy to spot. They most likely used the MK3S+ manual as a basis and then changed and customised parts to suit the MK4, before providing it to their assembly engineers to follow the manual and 'test'.
The assembled units began shipping quicker as Prusa had a large batch of them already constructed and in stock when the product was announced (Josef mention this in his blog, or an online video if I recall). They have been tested 100's of MK4's a long time before the announcement, and this constructed batch was most like assembled throughout their testing phase. Hence they were able to ship these quicker, soon after the announcement once the logistics were sorted and orders were rolling in.
In theory, the kit version should be easier and quicker to dispatch so it should have shipped first. Its just a packaging task at the end of the day with time saved on no assembly, which takes a while for them to assemble, before packing and shipping. So I think the only reason why it felt delayed a little is because of the large batch of assembled units already built and in stock, giving those orders a 'head start'. The manual is an easy task that would take a few days at most, not several weeks.

I am pretty sure you're mistaken. It would make zero sense to ship a printer without tested instructions. Either way, Prusa has its reasoning for doing it this way, and since they are successful and builders can build the printer, I am 100% sure they are doing it the right way.
I highly doubt they had many prebuilt printers sitting around waiting to ship. They have said many times in the Prusa Live and interviews that printers are built as they are ordered because they do not have the storage space for the volume of orders / preorders.

RE: Mk4 Kit Availability
There’s one more variable to this as well, we don’t actually know how many kits are even ordered
With the MK3 being about 5 years old there was probably a huge amount of people just waiting for a refresh
My guess is they sold a shit ton of printers the first few weeks 🙈
RE: Mk4 Kit Availability
I said that above and you are absolutely correct. Volume make a huge difference.

RE: Mk4 Kit Availability
Yes, they did.
From the MK4 release blog (when the MK4 was first announced and before shipping had even begun):
”We’re starting to ship the fully assembled Original Prusa MK4 now, and the orders are live. We have (had) a couple of hundred units in stock and we’re manufacturing several thousand printers every month. ”
They knew these units would sell, so they had several hundred in stock and ready to go. The remainder were assembled as orders rushed in.

Definitely! I would have liked to have seen that Prusa account balance during the first few hours ordering when live!! Lol

RE:
Started building and demand to meet orders are two different things. They have said many times that they do not have a lot of storage space for kits or assembled printers. Read my response. I am saying they do not have much storage space. Hundreds of printers build is not much when you get thousands of order in the first day.
Yes, they did.

Based on prior starts, my guess in 10000 to 100000 printers in the first few weeks.

I appreciate they didn’t have thousands, but you stated that they wouldn’t have many prebuilt printers available and that they only build to order. I was just pointing out this time round they did try to hit the floor running with some pre-built units, irrespective of numbers.
