MK4 Dimensional Accuracy?

Hello everyone. First post. I know dimensional accuracy is mostly related to having a level bed and accurate steps/mm on the three axes + extrusion motors. I’m considering an MK4, can anyone speak to whether the fact that the printer uses it’s own slicer which is presumably tuned has an effect in dimensional accuracy? My question is whether or not the MK4 is very dimensionally accurate out of the box or if lots of tuning needs to be done. And then tune for each material. I’ve heard the Bambu lidar is a gimmick but also have heard it works. Anyone here have a Bambu and can tell me if the lidar makes for dimensionally accurate parts even when switching materials?

Thanks.

RE: MK4 Dimensional Accuracy?

The MK3 was very accurate oob, I would assume the MK4 will be the same.

Most important is always that the flowrate of the used filament is well tuned in.

Regarding BambuLab flow calibration, it does not calibrate flowrate, only pressure/linear advance, which is more or less only important the get sharp corners.

Thanks for the info. Can ANY 3D printer be tuned for dimensionally accurate parts?

RE: MK4 Dimensional Accuracy?

Just google for "calibration cube" or "Calicat".

RE: MK4 Dimensional Accuracy?

Yes, with calilbration cubes or prints. If your question is regarding some sort of automated flow rate calibration, I am not aware of any in the hobby printer market. If anyone knows an example please correct me.

In general however, my experience with the Mk3s is that the stock settings in the Prusa Slicer for the printer are generally delivering pretty accurate flow rates and good dimensional accuarcy right out of the box. I would expect that the same is the case for the Mk4, with default Prusa Slicer settings for the respective filament type and brand (there is a vast amount of stock settings available in Prusa Slicer).
