Mid model filament change issue: z height reduction after change

I have just updated the firmware on my mark 4 to version 6.0.0 and I have discovered an issue when conducting a mid model filament replacement. After replacing the filament the printing restarted as expected but the z height appears to have dropped more than one level. As the printing began again, the print head severely impacted the model for at least 2 levels (in all areas of the model, perimeters and infill) damaging the model with messy over printing at the perimeters. I stopped the printing process after the second impacted layer began as the printing impact was noisy and I was afraid of damaging the machine.

RE:

Odd. I’ve just completed a successful colour change print on firmware 6. Can I ask what slicer firmware you originally sliced the file with - my success was done using 2.7.4 - wonder if that has any bearing?

RE:

It's the most recent Prusaslicer for Mac version 2.7.4 for Mac (m chip version). The printer did stop as a result of the filament sensor rather than a planned change, not sure if that has any bearing on the issue.
