How much Z probing is normal?

Typically, how many times does the print head probe for Z height at the start of a print? I mean when it does the probing in the bottom left of the print bed, before it probes the area it will print on. Mine can be anything from about 3 to sometimes 20 (the latter in two neat rows). I want to find out if this is normal before talking to Prusa support about it.

I think there is a problem with either the load cell or something else that contributes to the probing, as I have had it occasionally fail to probe at all and reboot the printer. Also, since moving to Octoprint and firmware 5.1.2, it sometimes does two full rows of probing, then moves the print head all the way to the right and puts Octoprint into pause.

Mine normally probes two or three times, but if I have not cleared that space of all debris from earlier prints it will do more.

These movements, when the nozzle creates up to two rows of dots on the edges of the printing pad, are not probing the height, but the nozzle tries to clean the plastic residues that sometimes flow out of it. The probing itself starts on the surface of the printing pad and ends in these places. It is quite normal for a nozzle on a surface to probe up to three times at points lying next to each other. It can also be seen on the display when "Nozzle cleaning" is shown.

RE:

Thats nozzle cleaning. I think if its succesful its usually 3 times, but petg sometimes gets a lil messy and takes a few more. PLA usually works fine everytime but petg i always focus on before the print. Thats how my mk4 behaves anyway, but yeah if your printer is nozzle cleaning a lot more than usual it means your nozzle probably has filament stuck on the end of the nozzle
