Getting PETG off Satin build plate
It finally happened. I have filament stuck to my satin build plate. It is only the very first layer from where the supports were for this print. What are the best ways to get PETG off the build plate without damaging the plate?
Once that is solved, how do I prevent this from happening again in the future but still have good adhesion? Are we talking glue sticks?

try dribbling Isopropyl alcohol around the stuck parts, let it soak under the parts, and they should lift off much more easily...
should work for the next print as well...
or stick the build plate in the freezer for a while, and try removing when cold

For this time: The very few times I've had this problem (PETG on Satin) I obviously let it cool first and then I bend the print sheet and at the same time I use a scraper to pry (or sometimes ram if it's necessary) the printed part. I do a technique where I press one corner against a rug / carpet, hold the opposite corner with my hand, bend the sheet with my knee, and use my free hand to scrape. The scraper that I find works the best is this one (no idea why that specific scraper is best but it's a lot better than others I've tried).
For the future: I find that prints come off a lot easier if I let the sheet (and the printed part) cool completely to room temperature before trying to remove them. 95% of the time I don't take the time to wait, but whenever I print overnight I notice that the part usually has released itself from the sheet.

definitely letting the plate cool helps. You can also put something on as a release agent. in times past on the smooth plate you could wipe a clean plate down with something like windex. For tpu on the satin sheet, I'll do the layerneer bed weld since it helps stick but also as a release agent once the plate cools down. For petg though, as @frebys said above, the petg print USUALLY detaches itself when the temp returns to room temp.

I tried all of these to no avail. I ended up taking my wife's single-edged pairing knife (don't tell her) and getting under the plastic. I wouldn't want to do those for a large area, but it worked well for the few square centimeters/inches stuck on.

I think I've also heard that popping the whole thing in the freezer might allow it to unstick

I tried that and had no luck. The problem is only where the support 1st layer is. Everywhere else on the model pops off as you'd expect. I can tell visually that the supports' first layer is different from the regular 1st layer. I am not sure how it's different, but at least visually, it is.

I'd definitely get some layerneer and try putting the down in the future. besides acting as an adhesive, it also acts as a release aid when the plate cools down. I use it for when I print things in tpu that have a large contact with build plate to help peel the item off.

Since posting, I did another print, and the same happened with the support area sticking. At this point, it is just the support 1st layer that sticks. The model prints perfectly and releases fine. So I am hesitant to mess with the entire print for a little bit of extra cruft from the supports, knowing what I know now about the knife. I used something like layerneer on my old crappy Creality printer, but that was because things wouldn't stick at all.
For now, I am just going to use the single-sided knife for this. Having done this twice now, the single-sided blade is not likely to gouge the plate if used in just a little bit and very carefully.

I use the plastic spatula from the file on the MK4 USB stick. I print from PLA and when it dulls, I throw it away and print a new one. Attention, use only when cold, the plastic spatula will not damage the surface.

Agreed. I use that to get most of the support 1st layer off. It was the leftover that was the problem.

One of the things I changed in my profile was "first layer density" in the support material tab. Up it to 100%. This makes it MUCH easier to come off the plate.

I had the same issue printing PLA and using PETG as organic support. it was a pain to remove and i was worried i'd mess up my Satin sheet. this changed with i started using "Layerneer". now its easy pealing of PETG from the hot bed.
