I should have posted when it was resolved! DHL sent an email telling me of the $52.26 duty on the MK4, saying it would not leave for America until it was paid. They included a link that was very easy to navigate for credit card payment. I paid and two days later my MK4 was sitting in my printing hood. Very slick!

That is not bad. It must have been on an assembled printer.

840 is the one that includes the extra sheet, I swapped my order to have the extra sheet and it went from 799 to 839
I received a notice yesterday that DHL had received my MK4 kit and would deliver it next Monday. Very happy.
Then, a moment ago, I received a shakedown notice from DHL demanding an import duty payment or they would return the package to sender. The duty fee is $44.20.
Based on the information above (about an exemption for costs under $800), when I look back on my order, I see that Prusa charged me $840 for the order - which includes a "gift" of a 1kg spool of Prusament. That seems pretty deceptive, since the Prusa MK4 kit currently sells for $799. So, in exchange for a "gift" of Prusament, I'm being charged not only an additional $40 on the order, but an extra $45 duty fee by DHL (in addition to the $45 delivery charge).
I feel rather irritable by this turn of events and will be contacting Prusa Support for an explanation.

I think I did however get lucky and did not recieve a duty fee to the US and my order was over the 800. However, prusa support did say shipping is included in the duty fee calculation when I asked them so all kit orders could be charged duty.

cwbullet, I ordered in April, and yes, it is assembled. I did the kit for my MK3, so felt confident that i could fix problems even getting it assembled. The communications came at time for shipping. It is a beautiful machine. It is MUCH quieter, and faster too. Prusalink works well with a little setup. I run Octoprint for my MK3 and Prusalink for the MK4. Is very slick.

I received a bill today from FEDEX to pay the duty. Prusa combined the price of the three boxes and had to pay $35 USD. If you are in the US, do not be surprised to get one if your bill is over $800. It is not 100% but ti doe happen.

I received a bill today from FEDEX to pay the duty. Prusa combined the price of the three boxes and had to pay $35 USD. If you are in the US, do not be surprised to get one if your bill is over $800. It is not 100% but ti doe happen.

On my MK3s+ kit with a couple of extra spools and plates, 2 packages I was charged duty. On my Prusa Enclosure kit I was charged duty. On my MK4 kit I was not charged duty. I worked for 40 years in manufacturing in the United States. The rule we learned was don't bother customs. Don't get upset at the carriers, they can't predict nor do they set the duty fees. They are just following the import rules. They pay the duty assesed to expedite the shipping. I was grateful for that.
If you are signed up with an account on DHL or FEDEX they send you an email notice to pay the duty. One of them even delivered it before I got a chance to pay the duty. That was 2 years ago, things may have changed about delivery without payment.
Seeing the European VAT, I wont complain about U.S. duty fees.

It came by US mail from FedEx. It was for 23.50 in duty and a $12 disbursement fee from FedEx. I have ordered 5 MK3 printers in various models and forms and 4 Minis and it is the first duty I have had to pay. I consider myself lucky.

My total import duty was $36.77 USD.
I had the MK4 kit and silicone socks.

Wish mine would come without any duty fee’s, but it’s highly unlikely here in the UK - they are like hawks in customs and take every penny they can get! Lol

Found this thread via Googling. Gotta say I'm pretty miffed. I'm going to let the order get returned rather than pay another freaking tax. I'm fed up with taxes. Not playing. I don't really need the thing anyway. And I'm still giving my MINI+ to my ex; she'll get more use out of it than I ever did.
