disappointed even before receiving the printer.
I'm still waiting for my kit (I had to postpone the delivery due to holidays) and I admit to hesitating to cancel the order when I see the technological leap of competition. I'm not talking about bambulabs, of which we don't know the reliability of the brand over time, but about the new creality k1 max. Network, wifi (which works), lidar, integrated accelerometer) box and much higher speed (even once the input shaping is out)but the point that bothers me the most is the lack of a camera. My old mk3s+ had a very handy beagle print camera and there is nothing for the mk4.
in short, I am disappointed even before receiving the printer.
am I the only one in this situation ?
RE: disappointed even before receiving the printer.
For me the question is: Do I need a cam?
And I can say..No I don't. Because my printer should be in my study. Next to my desk.
In my point of view a cam is good for those, who have there printer far away. For example in basement or garage or somthing eles. But if you can reach your printer in less then 1 - 3 minuts there is no need. Except you want to stream it. But in this case you can use a Raspberry Pi.
RE: disappointed even before receiving the printer.
I do habe the MK4 - and I‘m totally satisfied. Waiting now for the MMU3

I am bit surprised by your assessment. We are not quite sure of the track record of Bambulabs in the long run but we know Creality quite well. From what we have seen from Bambulab so far however, they are are very clearly superior to Creality. They have driven real innovation and while they are operating very cost effectively and have mediocre tech support, the Bambulab appears to be quite clearly a better made product than the K1. Forget the hype words. Especially the given max speed or even standard speed settings don't matter much. It matters what a printer can print well and reliably at. I don't see how the K1 is in any way superior to the X1. It does seem to have some minor design flaws as well (I heard about complications with the cable chain for example). Not sure about the replacement parts either. Bambulab offers the important parts which are expected to fail eventually after long operation times for very customer friendly prices. Maybe I am wrong but I doubt Creality is on par with that.
Without input shaping, I doubt either the X1, the K1 and the Mk4 differ all that much in achievable speed at decent quality but I am happy to be proven wrong by that. Mind you, the stock settings don't matter, it is fashionable nowadays to put the stock settings too fast. A trend Prusa hasn't joined. I am talking about optimized speed settings.
Regarding camera. Yes, if that is important to you, I'd rather look at the competition.

RE: disappointed even before receiving the printer.
My printer is in the basement of my building and i’m on the third floor. So yes i need a remote control. I was so happy with beagle cam . I think actually, with a 32 bit motherboard and lan capability i don’t want to hear « use a raspberry » .
RE: disappointed even before receiving the printer.
Why not? For remote work you can use Octoprint. This is very good

Yes or they may do camera support with the built in prusa link
Please help me out by downloading a model it's free and easy but really helps me out https://www.printables.com/@Hello_474427/models
RE:
Yes, but for Prusa-Link you need a Raspberry anyway. It is just a com interface for single board computer
RE: disappointed even before receiving the printer.
Not for mk4 or xl it's built in

Oh, thas cool. I didn't know that. But I have to wait a littbit until I'll get my MK4
RE: disappointed even before receiving the printer.
Unfortunatly I have to wait for my MK4. So all I know is from the MK3

RE: disappointed even before receiving the printer.
I have to admit I would have liked a camera as well, even though my printer is on my desk next to my main workstation anyways - however, I just use a Ring Indoor cam instead. Point it at the printer and you have all the remote access you need in order to check on your print. Granted, I'm generally always home, or close by when printing something, but if you add a smart plug to the setup you could leave the printer running, check on it remotely, and if anything is wrong use the smart plug to cut power.....

This solution work with every electric stuff, not only a printer. It’s a good solution for low coast china printer but not for a 2023-24 / 1000€ printer.
RE: disappointed even before receiving the printer.
Pi's are currently incredibly hard to get by without paying scalper prices at ebay. I found a Pi400 at digikey for 76 EUR incl. VAT (Austria), no shipping fees. That's a bit more than a Pi4 should cost, theoretically but overall a somewhat fair price still. The thing with the Pi400 is that the thing is huge compared to a Pi4. But as I am using it for a larger Voron 2.4 it should not be a big deal for me. On an Mk4 its more of a challenge.

RE:
I just saw that at https://electronics.semaf.at/Raspberry-Pi-4-4GB-Board one can get Pi4 4GB again at least but at 80 EUR the price is still pretty high. If a Pi 3A+ is sufficient one can get that one for a more reasonable 33 EUR already. There are also some Pi Pico und Zero W available again at lower price points.

RE: disappointed even before receiving the printer.
FYI you can also use OrangePi with Octoprint.

RE: disappointed even before receiving the printer.
Why would you not want to use Octoprint? Other than trying to find a Pi for reasonable cost, Octoprint offers a great set of features that no manufacture includes all of.
Not every printer suits every persons needs, just like a car. Creality's track record of reliability speaks for itself... if you're happy with that, then buy that.
