Connect a LED directly to the printer's power supply
Hello,
I have a 24V LED that I want to connect to the printer. I am wondering if the printer's power supply has enough spare capacity to power the LED directly, instead of using an external power supply.
Is there any information available about how much spare power the power supply has during printing and standby?
Would you recommend connecting the LED directly to the power supply?
Thank you!
RE: Connect a LED directly to the printer's power supply
Before connecting the 24V LED to your printer’s power supply, check the PSU’s specifications (usually found on a label or in the manual) to see its total output capacity. Then, measure the actual power draw of the printer during printing and standby using a multimeter or check online forums for similar setups. If the power supply has enough headroom to handle the LED without overloading, you can connect it, but use a fuse or resistor for safety. If unsure, an external power supply is a safer option to avoid potential power issues or damage.
