Catastrophic Failure on MK4 - Which parts should I change ?
I had to cut some wires, I hope I have not destroyed my axis. The funny thing is that the screen was showing that the print was finished. Which parts should I change ?
I never had such issue with the MK3s, does anyone already had this thing happening ?
RE: Catastrophic Failure on MK4 - Which parts should I change ?
When this happened to me, it was because of poor bed adhesion. To fix it, I usually preheat the nozzle and use a heat gun to slowly, carefully, soften things and get it separated from the printer, then clean the hot end and extruder as well. If you cut wires, you will need to repair, or replace the items with cut wires. If you cut wires with a high temperature insulation, you would be best off to replace the component completely.
RE:
I got a violent blob on mk4 once. Heatgun and preheat of hot end to remove larger chunks of plastic. My blob consumed few wires and x-belt. The condition of hotend is on the video. I did not try to further clean or repair it - smoke in the video comes from wires overheated by heat block with no air flow. After replacement of whole hot end, the printer keeps working with no issues.
I suspect a print job was started with parts on steel sheet.
