Automatic sheet changer?

Just wondering. Are there installations to take the sheet off the printer when the print is completed? Like two rails that flip in to lift the sheet off the bed tile at the two front corners when the y-carriage is fully aft, and then the y-carriage moving forward to push the sheet on the rails and off the bed tile? If the rails are inclined a bit and the sheet held by a magnet, loading in reverse sequence would essentially be unpowering the magnet and let the empty sheet slide on the bed tile to make contact and the y-carriage moving back to load the new empty and clean sheet and start the next print.

There was a video floating around the forum that shows a factory tour at Prusa. At the end of that video, you get a sneak peek at Prusa's new AFS print farm solution, and that beast has such a changer. So, yes, something like that does (or at least will) exist, but at a price point that says "build one yourself" for most private customers. 🙂

That about the price tag does not surprise me. What surprised me was there is not a myriad of such 'build one yourself' designs floating around for MK3 and MK4 based small print facilities, or for situations where access to the printer needs to be limited, such as in education.

As I indicated the basic elements on the printer side are available in the form of the y-axis system. The sheets have 'grab' holes in the front, so you need not rely on the y-axis motor for this but do the push-pull by an external drive.

Yes, I fully agree. One would expect that somebody would have built such a thing specifically for the LACK enclosure with some kind of storage under the tabel, but no... This doesn't seem to interest anyone, which I find surprising.

And what's stopping you from doing it? Complaining that "someone won't do it" is useless. Try learning how to construct, and maybe you'll be famous one day!

@miroslav.h4: I do not complain, and indeed nothing would stop me. It does not hurt though to ask and investigate first. When things look obvious but they are not yet materialized, there usually is a good reason they have not materialized.

There is no use in re-inventing square wheels. 😉
