RE: No Audible Alert
Thanks Sken,
At this point, for me, it'll be best to gather the info and send a complaint to the the safety folks at CPSC here in the USA. You and others could contact the reporting agency in your country as well. For Prusa to ship printers with a known defect makes me wonder "What Else Is Lurking In The Background".

RE: No Audible Alert
Just found this topic when looking for info to help me with my MKK4 alarm beep that is not loud enough… Anybody have a solution yet?
RE: No Audible Alert
I'm also looking for any response on this. I'm having the same problem with mine. I've even tried to put the beep in my gcode:
M300 S440 P200 ;Sound Beep
That worked great on my MK3 when my print job finished, but I get nothing on the MK4.
There isn't any audible sound when my filament runs out or even when I unload the filament like the MK3 did.
RE:
Good Morning JM,
I haven't had any success in getting Prusa to offer a repair, patch or even acknowledge many of us were having an issue. The last response I had, from them, was my printer was working as designed. I questioned that and asked them to compare the audio alert of a Mark 3 to the current Mark 4. They told me to do a video and send it to them. This issue, lack of an audible alert, is truly a pain when printing a project with multiple color changes.
I cancelled the XL I had on order. Figured that there are changes going on within the company and support for the small user is less of a priority.
Regards .....
RE:
The MK4 chirps very quietly, almost inaudibly. People have complained about it to the developers several times, but they probably have a guy with ears like a bat who can hear the grass growing and thinks other people can hear that way too. And at the same time, the printer should "shout" pretty loudly because something is happening. Anyone who would be disturbed by this can turn off or mute the sound.
RE: No Audible Alert
Does anyone know if the MK4 is supposed to give the loud beep when you do a filament unload like the MK3 did? It was the notification sound as a filament out warning. My MK4 doesn't do anything when you unload the filament. Going through the menu's it does give a beep each time the control knob is pressed, so I'm assuming that means the speaker is working, but that's the only place I get any sound out of my MK4.
Prusa please help
also for me it is a big issue not being given an accoustic alarm, for filament runout or colour changes.
it's realy anoying having to babysit the mk4 the whole time, not even daring to do some other work in the next room.
i hope there is a solution or a fix for this problem coming soon...
best wishes from germany, michael
RE: No Audible Alert
I have also the same Problem on my MK3.5
After upgrading to MK3.5, the sound output still worked perfectly. After about 7 days, it stopped working at all.I therefore created a support ticket with Prusa. The first employee assured me that the problem was known and that the problem was a software problem. To verify this, I downgraded from version 6.0.0 to 5.2.2. The sound doesn't work there either.I then opened another ticket and will receive a new display in the next few days.Is this a hardware or software problem, can anyone answer this question?
RE: No Audible Alert
I have an XL and the sound has always been kaput. Sometimes I can hear a really faint sound coming from the beeper but it's intermittent. I have a quiet shop too.
RE: No Audible Alert
I spent hours on the phone, chat, and email with Prusa support last year only to be told that the almost inaudible sound (set to loud) was normal. how load was the sound on yours before it went quiet? and when it went quiet was there nothing at all or just a feint sound? If they are replacing your screen then they are admitting that there is a problem with the hardware.
There has been no improvement on the sound on my machine since I got it and there have been several software upgrades since. Please let us all know how you get on with the replacement part.
RE: No Audible Alert
After I successfully installed the upgrade kit, the sound worked perfectly. After about a week, the speaker started to creak when I pressed the button. And now you have to listen very carefully to hear the sound because it is really very, very quiet
My volume was set to loud from the start.Let's see how long the new display works.
RE: No Audible Alert
today I get my new display. Now the sound works well again 😀
