MK4 Z axis moves unevenly

Hello,

I have been using the MK4 for two days now and so far everything has worked smoothly until I suddenly heard strange/loud noises when moving the Z axis and the print quality dropped dramatically or printing stopped working altogether.

No errors were detected during the self-test. I still tried the suggested solutions for potential "Z homing errors", but nothing worked. When moving the Z axis manually, I have now noticed that the two sides do not move simultaneously/evenly when changing direction. The left side always moves a little bit earlier than the right. Does anyone here have experience with this? I find it very strange that the problems have occurred so suddenly and, above all, after such a short time, when everything worked perfectly before.

Kind regards

RE: MK4 Z axis moves unevenly

Ensure that the Z-axis rods are properly aligned and parallel to each other. Misalignment can cause uneven movement and noise. Lack of lubrication or debris on the rods can cause friction and uneven movement. Clean and lubricate the rods to see if it improves the situation. Check if all the screws and bolts are tightened correctly. Loose components can lead to wobbling and uneven movement. The problem might be with the stepper motors themselves. If one side is moving before the other, it could indicate a problem with the motor or the driver. Inspect the lead screw for any signs of damage or bending. A bent lead screw can cause the kind of issues you’re describing.
