Rolled back the firmware as suggested, get 'Homing error X #13304'.

The X axis is much stiffer than the Y axis, takes significantly more force to move it manually.  It glided very smoothly before the belt and motor were added.

Additional reason found for suddenly failing self tests, the prusa tool holder from printables.  Hope I can save somebody else half an hour of head scratching with this comment. https://www.printables.com/model/547500-prusa-mk4-tool-holder/comments

Finally tracked the issue to a badly seated pulley on the right hand side.

I had exactly the same problem. I think this is a very poorly designed part. The single screw can't hold this flush, and the Lovebird cover doesn't fit well enough to hold it in place either. I don't know if this is due to my poor cable routing skills but this feels like something that needs to be looked at.

I can't get past the X self test either.  I've been printing for 3 days and everything is perfect. Not passing the self test is making me nuts though because I have to skip the test every time I turn it on.  I went through all the suggestions in this thread and I did have a slightly misaligned cable holder.  I fixed that and got that last mm of movement and it still fails.  There is nothing left int he way it comes in full contact with both ends.   Is there a way to permanently cancel this test?  I really don't even want to pass it anymore as the printer is performing perfectly and printing all of my models flawlessly.

I came back to say that the new firmware fixed the problem.  I passed the self test as soon as I installed it.  Thank you to prusa programmers.

Ran into similar issue. My issue was too tight.

The phone with microphone to test how tense belt is - it wasn't accurate. I had it on green when I did the strumming and the test failed. Then I loose it by lot and got it passed.

Just saying that this was exactly my issue. I replaced the bearings on the extruder, then zipped the wires in the back, but did not pay attention so they fit exactly in those holes. Damn tolerances...

thanks a lot you explan me why my X axis check failed since a while, I goes through this tiny point where my zip lock was not well positionned and I felt it was not so bad but efficient 😉
