MK4 Right Z-axis wobble
Hello everyone, I've always wondered why I've had the following problems since day 1 and I've never figured out why or why... I'll list the problems...
- Right Z axis motor is 0.3 mm higher than the left...
- Z wobbling
- slight streaks on the print
- extremely strong resonances
This morning I discovered this and wrote to support. It took the young lady 90 minutes to understand it, I had to carry out various tests and and and the video says a lot... but she didn't want to understand it and after 90 minutes Did you understand that the Z-axis spindle is bent 🙂
So if you have the problems mentioned above, check it out too.... the left side runs 95% straight up... and the right side, see for yourself 🙂
and it never happened to me when I was setting it up and that's why I didn't check here... and if you ask Prusa it's also something that happens very rarely... (but they sell it in their shop :D:D:D)
RE: MK4 Right Z-axis wobble
Hi @yasar,
I have the same issue on my MK4. I have tried to re-assembly Z-axis, did countless of readjustments and still right side of Z axis is slightly higher making Z axis wobbling. Did You find any solution to this problem?
RE: MK4 Right Z-axis wobble
I had a very similar issue on assembly, even same side, but this was my fault cause I cut a line of the stepper (maybe while I changed cable management inside electronics Housing)
After soldering the wire and isolation, the Z axis was running as expected.
If you checked already the cables, then hook up the x-Axis and remove the trapeziod, try to spin the spindle of both sides while the printer is on, if both feels same, then move Z-Axis whithout trapeziod, does both steppers rotate identically?

RE: MK4 Right Z-axis wobble
Thanks for tips. I have checked my wires and everything was looking good, checked spindle and it was perfectly straight.
Prusa support also gave me a tip to loosen the screws holding Z-axis motors
It helped with the inconsitent walls, but after some prints problem came back. So I decided to buy a new pair of LM10LUU bearings and new pair of trapezoid nuts. I have cleaned new bearings with 99.9% IPA, and re-lubed them with Super Lube 21030. After reassembly with new parts, printer is much quieter on Z-axis and print walls are now perfect. So maybe there was some quality issues with that parts in my case, but neverlethless now my printer works great.
