Layer Shifting?

Can someone explain this problem? I created this using the PrusaSlicer 2.6.0 Alpha 6. G code looks fine. Printed on the MK4. It looks like this has changed.

RE:

Could you hear a crash of the x axis? Usually you can hear it when this happens, because the toolhead bumps into one end of the axis repeatedly. I had one of those at the beginning but the shift distance was smaller, about 5 mm or so. And somebody else wrote that he saw the cable bundle of the toolhead getting caught between the toolhead and the PSU. I have since moved my MK4 into an enclosure and there is no more PSU on the frame, just a bracket with more clearance to the toolhead. The problem did not occur again since on my MK4.

Try re-running your XYZ calibration. The Y axis pulley on mine worked itself loose after the initial calibration. I got really bad Y shifting, and subsequent XYZ calibration failed for that axis. After fixing it, calibration passed, and looks like the layer shifting is fixed.

No, unfortunately I wasn't at the printer when this happened. but at a certain height everything seems to be shifted a few cm. I'll print the file again.

Hard to tell from a picture. Could be the nozzle catching on curled overhangs, or hitting pile-ups at the intersection of grid infill lines.

RE: Layer Shifting?

Check that the pulley on the X stepper motor is tight.

It looks like it is loose.

I couldn't find any build info from the MK4 yet, so here is the image from the MK3s build manual.

Furthermore, it can also be caused by the belt being under-tensioned.

How to do that can be found in this build guide.

It could also be down to the slicer you are using.

That is a beta version.

If you have many objects next to each other in your print and use Organic supports,

it goes wrong according to the following post on github.

That is exactly the issue I had today with my mk4.

One of the screws was loose, almost falling out. It was so far out that it started hitting the orange mount, causing the layer shifts. At the end it could not even home anymore...
