Issue With Straight Lines
Hi guys. I wonder if someone could give me some advice. I've recently built an MK4 kit and I've been doing some test prints, using the sample filament that came with the printer and well.. Things are not great. Could anyone point me in the right direction as to what to try to fix this issue? Thank you in advance!

Did you check that the belts are assembled correctly?
Are the grub screws in the belt sprockets tightened on the flat part of the motor axles?
Did you just run the calibration tests for the belt tension in the firmware?
Or did you check the tension of the belts manually? In my experience the printable tension tool works a lot more consistently than the tension app that gives a different value at each measurement. A bit of a hen and egg problem to use a printable tool if you have problems with printing in the first place, I know 🙂 But I think printing the tool should be a first step, if you already have the correct filament for printing it, which is important, read the description on the page.

Hi Walter Layher. I wasn't aware of a calibration test for the belts specifically so I will try that first. I believe I have assembled everything correctly. But it wont hurt to check. I couldn't seem to get the tension app to work properly on my phone (ZFlip 5). I found that the frequency was either really high (190) or really low (60). Never in-between. But I will also try that again too. That tool looks handy so if other things fail, I will print that once I get some PETG. Many thanks!

I can't seem to find a way to edit my previous post unfortunately. I just wanted to say that I think I've solved the issue. It would be nice to print more than just one object to confirm. But I am seriously low on filament right now (click on first image). It looks as though my Y-Axis (the print bed) belt was very loose. I spent around an hour using the Prusa Belt Tuner to get the belts on both the X & Y-Axis right.

I was referring to the Prusa Belt Tuner App before, which I think is completely useless because there are too many variables involved to get a dependable result with it. Every phone has a different microphone, the surface the printer sits on is probably always different, where you pluck your belt, the sound environment in your room etc. etc. When I tried the tuner app it gave me a different reading every time, even when I did not change the belt tension at all in between.
The printed tool gives you always the same result and you can see the pointer on it move when you tighten or loosen the belt. The only requirement is that you use Prusament PETG to print it. That is why it is available as gcode so the settings are baked in.
