First Layer Z Height Issues

I’ve just put together my MK4 kit and am having some intermittent trouble with Z height. Every other print or so the nozzle is pressed so far down into the sheet that the filament squishes out, or even fails to extrude completely, causing the extruder to skip steps.

On some parts of my sheet I even have visible indents and scrapes from the nozzle pressing too hard 😭

It’s usually only in a partial area of the print. Everything is securely tightened and the self-check passes. I watched the load sell sensor readout while tapping it, and it seems to register fine, although the number seems a bit inconsistent between tests.

Any ideas?

RE: First Layer Z Height Issues

that was the case with me too... it simply bored into my satin sheet... then I used the other side and it now looks scratched.... it may be the nozzle that isn't firmly seated and open measures wrong values... it could be the cell sensor... I had the screws under my bed, have now tightened them and the threads are broken, waiting for a replacement part.... really annoying, can I get a new one Order satin, that's not good. With something like that, the load cell auxh can quickly break... then you need many, many parts. And it quickly becomes expensive.... support told me I should use the other side of the bed 😀 and well, the other side doesn't look too bad, but when you print, the bed transfers the stitches to the print object. so i will order a new one...

so checklist for you...

- tighten the screws from the y bed (the small screws under the plate)

- nozzle stuck

- z Calibration done, repeat if necessary...
