Cannot attach xLCD screen to cover

M3x8 screw will not tap into xLCD-cover when attaching the xLCD. The M3x8rT screw was not included in our kit so could not try that as an alternative. Has anyone run into this problem? If so what was your solution? Ours is the version A assembly - Step 7.
