Always perfect mushroom clouds?

I think the MK4 is generally great, but I've now had a few instances of total non-sticking.

Anyone else have this experience? It always seems to happen after a filament change, but since I have been trusting that the perfect first layer would work, I haven't been watching it (Murphy's law of 3D printing)

Other notes: I'm using PETG with an Obsidxian 0.6mm nozzle and satin sheet.

The sheet is IPA clean (but not dish-soaped recently). Even so, it seems like I should have enough adhesion to avoid air-printing.

At least with the satin sheet I've been underwhelmed with the "always perfect" first layer. I found myself having to adjust the first layer down manually by anywhere between -0.01 to -0.025, depending on filament. Today I printed some silk PLA and had to adjust it UP by +0.015 to avoid wrinkles.

Thanks for the info. Where do I find that in the MK4 menu? I looked around a bit but didn't see it.

But, I did find an instance of imminent air printing. While watching the printer clean the nozzle, I noticed it wasn't stopping anywhere near the bed. A strand of PET had oozed out and bent in such a way that it fooled the load cell (or so it seems).

Long press the knob while the first layer is going down to bring up the live Z adjustment menu. Any adjustment is only valid for this session.

RE:

Thanks for the tip on how to adjust the Z-Height on the first layer by long pressing the button!

I'm seeing slight imperfections on the first layer on a new satin sheet on the MK4 where it looks like the height is slightly higher than it needs to be so all the layers don't blend together and look uniform.

Lowered the by 0.050 to see if that fixes it.

Looks like perfect first layers may not be as reliable as advertised.

Only had the machine for 24 hours so far and other than this issue the prints are a lot cleaner than on the Mini+ which is to be expected.

I couple pictures, I printed the worst looking piece with another on the build plate, the 2nd 2 pictures is where I only printed the piece centered on the build plate.

2nd print where the print was centered on build plate came out butter but still a few spots where you don't get a uniform sheet but still looks pretty good.
