Will XL have an enclosure option?

Seems like the move to the XY mechanism might make a factory option for enclosing/heating the workspace more feasible.  After all the cubic framework is there already...  perhaps they could add enclosure controls to the existing board?

If the patent, that is preventing all from selling a printer with enclosure, has run out till then ... maybe

No official word, but it would be easier for us to enclose also.

@lichtjaeger

Did not realize that was the hold up.  Patent law has been expanded to the point of absurdity.

I bet they will only make user guide and printable files as optional upgrade (to use your local materials such as plexiglass etc.)

...like it was with IKEA LACK enclosure

If Prusa offers an official enclosure for the XL, I hope the actual printer is designed for enclosure use. We saw what happened with the Mk3 when everybody went an built the Lack enclosures in spring then experienced increased heat in summer. Bit of a self-inflicted wound on Prusa's part.

As time has gone on, I've come to appreciate the external electronics box used on the Creality CR-10 and similar printers. It's big, bulky and awkward to move... but it's easy to place outside an enclosure. I wonder if/hope Prusa puts in some modular cabling options on newer designs to accommodate things like hotend swaps and relocation of power supplies and electronics.

The external modular wiring harness is what I really like about the Anycubic predator and some of the Creality machines. I would love to see an external power supply and electronics with a wiring harness.

Which patent would this be?
