Will there be any 5kg rolls of Prusament?
Will there be 5kg roll of prusament? It would be great for long prints and production runs.
Anyone else into this? I think it would be great!

No anouncement. I suspect that they need to get a stable supply of the 1KG rolls first.

Re: Will there be any 5kg rolls of Prusament?
I remember a video that showed the Prusa Farm, which said they use 2Kg spools. If ever there was a use case for huge spools it’s there. So I’d imagine there’s a reason for not using them in the farm. Just guessing here: I’d imagine the Printer would have a rough time pulling filament off a spool that size. It may not be possible or reliable to use a 5Kg spool. Meaning the non geared extruder stepper May not produce enough force to turn a 5kg spool.
When someone asks you if you're a god, you say, "YES!"
Re: Will there be any 5kg rolls of Prusament?
So your saying they are selling 2kg spools already? Or were they just talking about doing it in the future?
Re: Will there be any 5kg rolls of Prusament?
They have sold 2kg spoils of orange PETG.

Re: Will there be any 5kg rolls of Prusament?
I bought an orange 2 kg spool and it's nice not to have to worry about reloading - nice material!
I've used up to a 10 kg spool before, and it worked fine. The main trick was hanging it over the printer on a steel rod, so the spool spun fairly easily (by slipping, no bearings, etc.) and the printer was pulling filament down. Though not many places sell 10 kg spools...

Another reason for the MMU 2.0 maybe if you are concerned about running out of filament and the sensor is not working properly.

I once bought a 30lb spool of filament (about 13.6kg). It worked just fine, and I used it all up eventually, but it was definitely a nuisance. Large filament spools take up a lot of space, you need special spool holders for them, and I generally don't think it's that great of an idea except under special circumstances.
But there were zero issues pulling the filament off the reel. I made a spool holder that had a shaft through the middle of the spool and a pair of bearings on either end of the shaft and it was fine. The printer was easily able to pull the filament.
