RE:

I talked with one of the managers at FOSDEM, asked about INDX, and he said they got a contract with a Bondtech and thus any announcements about INDX are managed by Bondtech, and should be redirected to Bondtech.

Prusa team will be just silent because they are bound with the contract.

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

I feel like I'm on a Kickstarter. At least it was only $150

I was about to mention Kickstarter... In contrast to that platform, it's rather uncommon for established companies to provide live updates on their development efforts before a product launches. But I guess Bondtech and Prusa have moved halfway into Kickstarter territory, with the early announcement and partial pre-payment.

At least with Bondtech and Prusa, you will be the product.  Kickstarter is lower odds of delivery.

Seems like established companies are taking this route. Example the SnapMaker U1

More and more, it seems you are right.  They are using this to offset development costs.

I think it's rather to drum up publicity. And in some cases to try and convince customers to defer their buying decision and wait for the shiny new thing, rather than buy from the competition now.

I would like to see an upgrade for the Mini.  Not sure what, but a corexy would be nice.  I get the feeling they might have abandoned it.

I'd definitively be interested in a lower-cost Prusa machine. I like the idea of having a second back-up printer offload your main printer to cut down on waiting time when you're wanting to prototype. I got a second hand Prusa Mini, but I eventually gave up on it due to the downsides of having a bowden tube design.

I don't know if it would be more wise for Prusa to spend man hours on a more budget-oriented product or man hours on more costly but advanced printers. I guess we'll see!
