What to know about printing?

Hi
Maybe soon I will buy my first Printer. So what to know about the Filament?
What to choose? I  want to print some "screw on" Adapter for a USB Cam.

I use such Optical Filter who filter out the Light and let only pass the IR Light.
The are looking like that:

In my case the are 2,5cm in diameter that was the smallest I got back then with variable nm.
I want, need,... to screw then on and off. The have some very fine and thiney screw think but thats to fine to print.
So I would like to make an Adapter who I clip them in permanently.
Could the Plastic use for such thinks? I saw many Video who people print gears and use them for Week and Month.

Is there anything to keep in mind? Thanks

So much to learn! Patience is the first thing to learn. 😀 PLA or PETG plastic will probably be the first filaments to use. PLA probably prints the easiest of all plastics, but is brittle and will warp if left in a hot car. There is no "perfect" plastic to print with yet. I'm liking PETG now. I have a Prusa i3 MK3 printer.

I'm not optimistic about printing fine threads, perhaps someone else can help with that.

Research, research, research is all we can say. Search for topics on this forum. Take a class that uses a 3d printer. If you can visit a MakerSpace with a printer they will probably have a class. See if a nearby college has 3d printers and printing you can observe.

I just stumbled upon a Maker's Muse video I wish I had seen before I started, how people break 3d printers:

Hey there 🙂
I started looking up different sorts of filament a couple of days ago. I came across a very helpful German article. They have different categories and also show you the best filament in each category. Don't worry 🙂 you can easily translate the article using Google translate or Deepl. The article is very informative and helpful, so you might want to check to out, especially if you're a beginner. You can find the article here: https://www.technikhiwi.de/filament-test/
I really hope I could help you 🙂
