Wera and Prusa

Hi folks,

Wera is a German tool company that makes their tools in the Czech republic.  Prusa is a Czech company that makes 3D printers. Wera has a really nice 2.5mm, 2mm, and 1.5mm ball end wrenches that are color coded (white, turquoise, and green) but you can't get all three individually (only the 2mm and 2.5mm ones). Have you considered partnering with them to make a "Prusa 3D printer tools kit" ? As an accessory it would have the wrenches, a screw driver and a pliers, all made by Wera so top quality. You wouldn't have to give it away with Printer kits but I know that if you sold it as an accessory, I would buy it (and print out a tool holder accessory for the enclosure to hold the tools).

What do you think?

I concur that it is a good suggestion.  I love Wera Tools.  It is worth an email.

I agree you @joantabb, but the primary beneficiary of good tools are users! So even if this doesn't work out for Prusa, I think if users were thinking "What sort of tools should I have with my printer to deal with various issues?" The link to the hex set could be useful no? (Oh and I sent it to info@ too :-))

RE: Wera and Prusa

So…  since we’re just talking about tools for our printers in general, USA made Bondhus drivers are also good quality and reasonably priced. For those of us in the states, Amazon is a good source for them.

Here’s a link to a set of (6) hex ball drivers from 1.5 - 5 mm with screwdriver style handles. For the relatively small screws used on our printers, I find this style easier to work with than the ‘L’ shaped handles on conventional hex drivers.

As with all things in life, ymmv 😉

Cheers
