Weird Print problem - No Top Surface?!
I am trying to print a thin disc (1-2 mm thick). For some reason (probably pilot error) the very top layer is being ignored. I tried enabling ironing but got the same results - the model looks fine in the slicer and it prints fine on my Anycubic - but my Prusa MK3 produces what appears to simply be an incomplete print.
Any ideas why?
RE: Weird Print problem - No Top Surface?!
Hard to tell for certain from the photo but it doesn't appear that you've any infill in your print. By default the top and bottom shells are .7mm and .5mm respectively (for a 0.2mm layer height) so if your entire model is 2mm thick that leaves about 0.8mm of "empty space" in the print. When the printer tries to bridge that very wide space, since there is nothing for the extruded filament to rest on (no infill) the filament strand breaks apart and falls into the space. The longer the free "span" of the bridge the less likely that it will be successfully completed. Try adding about 15% infill (style of choice) and see what happens. Alternatively, you can increase the layer counts for top and/or bottom layers (or select 100% infill) if a solid disk is desired.
Hope this help,
Steve

I've tried 5% and 10% infill - maybe that is not enough. Thanks for the direction - I'll give this a whirl...I did check the Anycubic and its set to 15% infill, so maybe that's it.
