Wait Text in an STL File
How can you edit the text in an STL file before slicing to print? There is a name placard but I need to edit the text. The author said the file should be editable.

Generally you can do that by either splitting it into separate objects or parts in PrusaSlicer and editing the part. Really depends on the STL. Or if that is not possible then you can import it into an application like OpenSCAD, FreeCAD etc and edit it there (which is much harder if you are not familiar with these applications). If you can ZIP the STL and attach it here, I can try to edit it for you (and explain how I did it).
RE: Wait Text in an STL File
hyiger thank you for the help! I have attached the file. QwertyKennelTag_stls Would like it to say
ONYX
The Menace from Venice if it will fit. If not just the name is fine.
RE: Wait Text in an STL File
good morning. I wanted to follow up and see if there was anything else you needed from me for the file I attached. I appreciate your assistance.

Hi, don't know what the author meant but you can't edit this text unless you have the CAD files.
I loaded the 3 STLs. Obj3 shows errors, which is already not a good sign. I then used Prusaslicer's Split to Parts function on that object and deleted everything but the first two parts (the other parts form the description imprinted on the object).
I then used PS's Add Text function to add text. See attached 3mf file.
Now this text is fully editable in the 3mf file. You can change font, style, etc. I made it 0.6t mm deep, which should be very visible.
Actually, thanks for the file. I'm a dog trainer and may want to use it myself for my dog crates!
