RE: UK orders

Just logged back in and emptied my basket!

Not paying near £30 shipment for four rolls of filament. Yep, its a better quality and they have colours I cant really get elsewhere but .....

I'll manage.

Just have to make do until we can travel again and bulk order to friends in Germany and pick it up.

@steves

You are just hitting a weight/volume step-change in the shipping costs.

1-3 spools would be £16.56 shipping...

4-14 spools would be £27.80

This isn't new, it has always been there in the courier shipping rates.

So you don't order just over the breakpoint.

Order 3, or 6+ but not 4 or 5 if you want the best current shipping rates.

Previously we had the option of Hermes for a crazy low price but that has gone for now.

Well having got my email as I’m sure we all have to say why we are been charged what we are, I went and had another look at the website.  I placed some filament in my basket and then proceeded to the check out.  It’s here I get all confused as they show vat twice. Well that can’t be right we pay vat once. So is the price displayed on the website vat free! I find it all very confusing.  No mention either of the admin fee you have to pay the delivery company either. Which will come as an additional shock and cost.
I think it would be so much easier to have a drop down box on each item telling the buyer what the total cost including vat will be.  Then we get to make a choice if we are prepared to pay or source elsewhere.

The prices are shown VAT inclusive.

The summary on the checkout page shows the VAT inclusive price for the goods and for the shipping, then it shows the VAT exclusive total and the VAT, then the total for the goods+shipping.

You are only paying VAT once, if in doubt, add the first two VAT inclusive lines and you'll get the same total...

There is no mention of the 'admin fee' because on orders below £135 there is no admin fee.

Even when there is an admin fee on the higher value orders, that is something between the shipping company and the customer so you would not expect to see that on the Prusa page.

RE: UK orders

I purchased Fillerment and some spare parts and the shipping came to £24. A reasonable price when the customs fee and duty have been paid for.  Now we are no longer part of the single market we are a third country and therefore couriers charge more for items to be sent to and from the United Kingdom. The price of items should cost more as we no longer have the ecomonic benefits of being in a customs and trade union. As others have pointed out on the forum there are other places that offer Fillament in the UK and as a consumer it's your choice to vote with your wallet. Yes it's a shame it costs a lot to get the items shipped to the UK now but this isn't Prusa's fault and I will contiune to support them with future purchases, This isn't something they can wave a magic wand and fix as ALL courier companies are enforcing vat and customs duty. As per the documentation provided by Prusa anything under £135 includes customs and duty by Prusa. anything above that will impose both duties and tax which you will need to check the customs tarrif checker on the gov.uk website. This is the unfortaunte reality for businesses both in the UK and the EU now that the UK has decided to no longer be part of the EU. I decided to contiune to use Prusa Fillerment because the quality is fantastic and worth the additonal cost.

@olipicard

as far as i can see there is no customs/duty fees to the uk according to prusa.

just vat and shipping under $135   -  you pay prusa,

over £135  you pay the courier vat and handling fees . (but you pay prusa for shipping).

this is from prusa  -  "Due to the EU - UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA), no customs duties will be applied to orders shipped to the United Kingdom (UK) from the Czech Republic."

RE: UK orders

At least the lead time on Prusa Mini seems to have improved, down from 8-9 weeks to 5.

Lets hope when the time comes the shippers are effecient and dont get stuck with customs delays.

RE: UK orders

My order from last week arrived this morning 😀

From the tracking info from DHL the timings were:

  • 5th Feb.  Order placed .  One item out of stock so order on hold pending restocking estimated delivery was 22nd Feb.  I knew this at the time or ordering so no problem
  • 12th Feb. Package handed over to DHL Prague.
  • 14th Feb. Package leaves DHL Prague facility
  • 15th Feb.
    • Package arrives DHL Brussels facility
    • Package departs DHL Brussels facility
    • Package arives DHL East Midlands
    • Package clears UK Customs
  • 16th Feb.
    • 04:00 Package leaves DHL East Midlands
    • 06:00 Package arrives DHL Cambridge facility
    • 09:00 Package on delivery truck
    • 11:00 on my doorstep.

So a great service from Prusa and DHL.

I deliberately kept the total order value to less than £135 (including shipping) to simplify the billing / shipping process.  Depending on what I need next my next order may fall above that level and if so I'll report back. In the mean time if any one has experience of shipping higher value orders please post here how it turns out.

I noted that the delivery costs for the UK are the same as for Norway and Switzerland so standard non-EU neighbouring countries.  I guess if I were Swiss I may feel a bit aggrieved given that shipping distance for them is a lot less than to Norway and the UK.

RE: UK orders

Just had the email from DHL saying that my printer is in transit from Prusha and I need to pay the VAT

£148.59 VAT

£11 AV Payment (I assume the DHL handling fee)

So the Original Prusa i3 MK3S+ cost me £902.57 delivered.

DHL seem to be in an alternative time zone as they have my delivery date as 2 March.

RE: UK orders

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised they only charged £11 instead of the customary 2-3% I've been used to in the past.

Mine is also supposed to be delivered on March 2nd. I'm assuming the extra week is for it to pass through customs when it hits the UK. Sorta hoping it doesn't take that long but haven't ordered anything since brexit so unsure how quick/slow that process is at the moment.

Have you not paid VAT on purchase to  Prusa?

No, now the UK has exited the EU you pay the VAT and any customs charges when the goods arrive in the UK or are handed over to the carrier. The exception to this is if the order is less than about £135 when Prusha can arrange the VAT as they would have done previously.

Matt,

I suggest you read the thread. On all orders over £135 vat paid to courier on import now.

that £902.57 doesn't seem to include any shipping fee's from prusa.

£742.98 +£148.59 + £11(dhl) = £902.57  but how much was shipping.

how long ago did you order the printer?

3 Feb I put the order in, so four weeks isn't too bad.

I think DHL is bringing it across by bike and canoe 🤣

@mike-rawlins

Do you remember what the lead time was when you placed it - On 31st Jan I placed one for a kit + a couple of other bits and kit was saying 4 weeks (now 3 to 4 weeks), I thought the built one was wait of 5 to 6 weeks then, but is down to 3 weeks now which would tally with order placed on 3rd- so hopefully mine will ship this week.

RE: UK orders

I don't live in the UK anymore but that sounds totally unfair. Pricee in the Prusa Shop include VAT. So does that mean you have to pay VAT twice?
