It is not known which printer (company and model) it was - just to keep in mind it can be dangerous. Today in our local news in Austria:

https://tirol.orf.at/stories/3244310/

From the article, the saddest part:

a cat did not survive the fire.

I have a smoke alarm and an extinguisher near my printers. You can never be too careful.

Looks like a large bed slinger from that picture. I wonder what could have caused an "explosive sound".

Looks like the owner of the 3d printer that caught fire said on reddit that it was a Stock Ender 6.

"Its an Stock Ender 6.. I know it because it was my Printer, my Flat and my Cat"

You can find the article if you search, reddit A printer (presumably) caught fire yesterday- does anyone recognize the model?

RE:

My first 3D printer was a Chinese made product. It was OK, and I bought it because it was cheaper. I learned a lot about 3D printing on that machine as I upgraded the hot end and extruder to E3D parts, modified the firmware, and made a lot of tweaks. Then I came to the point where I knew I needed something of better quality and reputation. I also recognized that quite a few printers at that time were Prusa knock-offs. So, I took the Prusa plunge and couldn't be happier. These are machines and they require regular maintenance to keep them working optimally. I suspect that will be true for all 3D printers. I'll stick with my Prusa.
