Technique to cut away from model in Slic3r

I just developed a technique to cut away parts of a stl model all in Slic3r that I haven't seen anyone else use. It might not be a unique idea, but since I just came up with it and it works so well I thought I would share.

I'm doing an experiment with text cut out of the top and bottom of a flat (5mm thick) model, and unlike the first time I used this model instead of using black as my middle color for the bottom of the letters on both sides, I want to try using natural filament in the middle. I'm not sure if I'll get the effect that I want, but I didn't want to print the entire model and potentially waste two magnets in a failed experiment. Instead of just cutting away everything except the text area in my 3D modeler, I thought to try using modifiers on the sections that I didn't want to print with infill, top and bottom layers, and perimeters all set to zero.

For this model I used 3 separate modifiers to cover all the areas that I didn't want to print. This is what the setup looks like:

And here is what it looks like in the preview:

It worked better than I imagined. I honestly wasn't expecting the cut sides to have perimeters. I hope others can benefit from my experiment.

If anyone wants to pick this apart, I attached the 3mf project file. I designed it in Slic3r PE 1.42.0 beta 2, and haven't bothered to see if it loads properly into the 1.41.3 stable. (Yes, I remixed my own Thingiverse object. I haven't published it yet, but probably will add it to this object once I've proven it works to myself.)

I used this technique also. Works great!
