Suggestions for electrical connectors on printed items
I'm working on a box I'll be printing to attach to my golf cart. I'll need to add some kind of connector on it so I can plug in the wires to it. I have 5 wires, so I figure there might be some systems were a 6 pin connector works best. I could go with an old DB5, but that doesn't seem quite right. What kind of electrical connectors have you used when you needed to be able to connect wires to an object you printed?

I've used these IP68 weatherproof connectors before on my motorbike. They're suitable for automotive, marine, etc up to 5A. They have individual rubber grommets on each pin and a large rubber grommet on the connector itself. In theory you can submerge these in water. On the motorbike they've been very reliable.

Voltage is 48V, not at all high amps. It's for a forward/reverse switch. There's an inconvenient one on the car, so I'm adding one up on the steering column, easily reached from the steering wheel. I'm printing a box in several parts that will clamp around the steering column and hold the switch (and a couple LEDs for indicators). It won't be submerged, but could get water on it.

I'm looking for something I can easily include in my print design, so one connector can be included in the box I'm printing, not something to use between the box and other connections.

At first I read this line as you wanting to include the connector as a printable item. Now I get what you're asking. You can use the connectors I linked above. Just run a short lead into the box with a grommet and silicone sealant. If you want the connector physically attached to the box you need a screw-down IP68 junction connector. You can get 6-pin variants for a few bucks each. Seems like overkill to me though.

Simply insert a short wire with a grommet and silicone sealant into the receptacle. If the connector is to be physically affixed to the box, a screw-down IP68 junction connector is required. There are 6-pin variants available for a few dollars each. It seems excessive to me though.
