Sudden X or Y shifts

Every so often, my printing suddenly (with an audible “bump” skips in the X or Y or both directions.  Often to serious amounts like 4 to 10 mm!  I recorded the last three and they were on slice 7, 3 and 3 again in the X direction, then Y direction and then in both, shifting at a 45-degree direction. Never in the Z direction.  It occurs almost 1/3 of the times I print, totally ruining the print.

It occurred using an SD card before I installed a Raspberry Pi but does occur more now with it. I am also now using the new Slic3r from Prusa.

Have others had this problem and how can I mitigate it?

Thanks,

Bob

RE: Sudden X or Y shifts

Almost always a nozzle collision with the part; or a sticky bearing.  Do a search for those two issues.

ps: aka User Error
