Stringing, don´t we all hate it?
For the last few weeks I have been trying to remove even the slightest hint of stringing.
I always looks like Rembrandt has over cooked his paint oil dilution and he in his lifetime possibly threw away so many works of art,
he was an engineer in throwing paint at a canvas, like us, and in his own right a true perfectionist. I strive always for this in 3D printing.
How many You tube videos do we watch, where the EXPERT says this is a good print? Gag Gag.
I have been trying Z lifts, retraction speeds and travel distances and I almost found the lost chord.
But NO cigar for the ultimate clean print.
I am using Bowden tubes and this can be a facture of my problems.
Eureka, I changed the filament diameter from for example. measured at 1.75 mm dia to 1.78 mm dia, an increase of 0.03 mm
from the actual measured diameter. Thinking I am telling the software, in my case marlin (legacy) no to feed as much filament into the nozzle
in fact starve it a little. 1.7% and it seems to work for me.
I have attached a few photos of a simple SD holder I designed and printed, the slots are 2.5 mm wide, 20 mm deep. the engraving came out perfect.
Also used 2 different filament suppliers and colours.
I am sure there are a lot of Marlin experts out there, who will immediately say something to the effect that s"hips made of steel will sink."
But it seems to work for me, good enough.
Comments please.
