Spare Part on Extruder Idler Door
When I opened the extruder idler door for my first attempt at cold pull, I found this pictured part in the Hex opening. Anybody recognize it? Seems like something left over from original build/packaging from a couple years ago? Have not tried to do any prints yet with out it.
RE: Spare Part on Extruder Idler Door
you have a mk3 with the original filament sensor.
at the top fo the extruder idler door there is a hingepin, in the middle of the idler door, plastic there is a gap where you can see the hingepin.. behind the hinge pin is a small hole leading to the filament sensor chamber.
the hole is intended to let you blow dust out of the filament sensor chamber with an 'Air Duster nozzle' the spare piece of plastic is intended to block that hole so that light cannot get in...

From all appearances, that looks like the "Idler Plug" that sets on top of the Idler Door, covering the small gap in the hinge of the Mk3 (this was eliminated in the Mk3S redesign) It helps block light from the optical filament sensor, and has to be removed when opening the idler door.
