Re: Simplify3D License for sale
There is no answer in the FAQs. I would ask that question before you sell or buy it.

The license is not bound to any hardware. you can install it up to two devices. in your online account you see on which devices you installed S3D and can simply deactivate/delete it from there.
In the S3D-Account-Setting one can change Name and Adresse, Email, Password and even the Username. There is not a single Userinformation you can not change. So to me this looks like this is going to be a smooth transfer 😉

You can change every Information linked to the User in the account settings. If you are going to use it privately this should be enough. If you plan on using it commercially, better write them an email and ask.
Re: Simplify3D License for sale
So, as I understand this, you will let the person log in and change all the contact information. So, essentially transferring the pruchase to them.

i guess i would change the account email to the one the buyer wants and add a password like 123456. From then on i am out 😉
Re: Simplify3D License for sale
I would ask S3D first. If reselling is not permitted, they might revoke your license.

I'm reminded of the South Park episode. It seems the terms are specified in the EULA nobody reads:

Thanks for checking the TOS. To summarise: Reselling is not allowed and once sold again this license can be revoked at any time.

Nothing mentioned about giving it away for free?

The first two lines cover that pretty well. The only license granted is limited to personal installation on your computer. Otherwise, they make revoke the license and pursue whatever legal stuff they care to.

Putting aside the legal aspects for a moment. What technically is stopping the guy from "gifting" it to someone else?

I guess that would be the "non-transferable" aspect of the license.

Technically nothing. Same like driving your car against the wall.

Re: Simplify3D License for sale
There is technically nothing to stop you form selling fo gifting. The owner goes through the steps of change the account to you amd you can use the software. I doubt theer are protections to prevent it. That being said, it is goign to hard to buy an update if that is required in the future. Then again, may it won't be. It is a risk for $100.

Re: Simplify3D License for sale
With the pace of acceleration with the open source Cura and Slic3rPE slicers, I'd be hard pressed to justify spending $100 for S3D today. I don't regret buying back in April 2018, but the alternatives are developing very rapidly. If you really need S3D-like customizable supports, IdeaMaker (also free) does a very good job.
