Simple curiosity question only: about the forum

I am always curious about how things work, and also why.

( I know: curiosity killed the cat ) 😀

But this post is just a simple question about HOW.

How are the member ratings determined? Number of responses? Quality of responses?

Note to moderator(s)/admin(s): If you answer this, please close the topic so it doesn't go on forever.

Pretty sure it's just a fancy post count.

Is there any confirmation on this conjecture? I'm also curious as to what goes into these ratings. I have searched through the forums and this is the only relevant post that came up. I would hate to think that a bunch of relatively unhelpful posts, are being made just to inflate the count and get a higher rating. But whether any posts are helpful or not is a subjective judgement (on whose part?), so assigning ratings could get to be a dicey prospect. Maybe an anonymous Like/Dislike tally could be kept to "reward" the truly worthy posts/posters, but without some guidance from "above", they are pretty much meaningless.
