RE: sideways image on site

Just out of curiosity:

Are you using your phone to take the pictures?

If so, are you holding it vertically or horizontally?

I have uploaded big pictures ( 5+ megapixel ) to the site and the orientation was correct.

I took pictures with my phone held horizontally. I did not modify or crop them. The preview on the site only displayed a cropped view, but when clicked on, the full picture would show up.

I've found it depends on the image. Some images look fine on your computer because the OS recognizes rotational metadata and rotates the base image based on the metadata. On these images, this site ignores the metadata and shows the natural orientation of the image. The solution is to use a 3rd party program to actually rotate the image to not rely on the metadata. Most image editors should be able to help you out here to process your images before uploading. (Yes, this is annoying. I don't know enough about wordpress to know if there is a back-end solution that Prusa could implement.)

🙂 🙃 🙂 Me, on the other hand, rotating images gets me in trouble. Pictures end up in every orientation except the one I want.  It is all done with smoke and mirrors.

Thank you sembazuru

You put me on the right track, turns out what I had to do was open the original photo with irfranview and save it.  Once done I uploaded it and the orientation was correct.

However, the phone is cropped at the top, which makes it look wrong.

Site seems to want the photo to be square, like any photos taken are every square?

Oh well, it's better than it was I guess.

Your pictures are all there. When looking at the page, click on the picture and you will see the 'missing' top piece. You will see the tips of the alligator clips.

yes, thank you I know.  It's the preview picture that is not showing correctly.
