Should I upgrade from an MK3S to the MK3.5?
I have an MK3S but it’s slow so I was looking for the MK3S+ upgrade and was wondering if the MK3.5 has the same high temp of 300C because the newer models drop to 290C. I want to print more functional parts and am worried about the drop in temperature. Does anyone know if the 3.5 upgrade prints up to 300C? I tried the online chat and it kept timing out and I never got to talk to anyone about this concern.
I don’t use the MMU, nor plan to buy one. I’m just wondering if anyone knows if the 3.5 upgrade keeps the maximum printing temperature at 300C or if it drops it to 290C. I can’t find anything on the site that specifies the printing temperature. I don’t know what color the printing material is that’s included in the upgrade package but I have a black Prusa. I think I have to buy a roll of black PETG to print the parts needed for the upgrade since color isn’t specified. This would make the upgrade more expensive so I’m hesitant to buy anything. Apologies for the post because I didn’t get more than 5 hrs of sleep last night.
RE: Should I upgrade from an MK3S to the MK3.5?
Ugh ! you will print PETG at 300 degree Celsius ??? Normally is 230/85.
But besides of this, I upgraded to MK3.5 in march and and I regretted it, because the MK3.5 is obviously a dead end and both the firmware and PrusaSlicer are not optimized for it. There is no upgrade path in sight. Information during printing that is a given in the MK3, such as remaining printing time, sheet metal used, etc., is simply missing. The printer does get faster, but at the expense of quality and material. So I recommend: wait and see whether there is a software improvement or at least upgrade to MK3.9.
RE: Should I upgrade from an MK3S to the MK3.5?
The new firmware tops out at 290 degrees. Good enough for me (printing mostly PETG, PCCF and ASA).
I was hesitant to make the upgrade but have been very happy. The new firmware is nice. Bed leveling only in the area needed. Prusalink/Prusaconnect built in. Don't need a Pi anymore, and no more SD cards.
It prints faster without visible impact on quality. With the caveat, that's from limited testing. I use this machine to print basically one part, all the time. With the standard print profile I can print it just as fast as with my previous highly optimized profile that was pushing the MK3S to maximum volumetric speed. I could probably speed it up more but I don't want to sacrifice quality.
In fact, in some ways I like the Mk3.5 better than my Mk4's: once live Z is set, you're done. Start the print job and walk away (or start it from PrusaConnect). My Mk4's are anything but "always perfect first layer". Yes, with PLA on smooth sheet (which I haven't used in years). But PETG or ASA on satin and textured, not so much. Instead I have to manually adjust live Z down by -0.015 or so every time a print is started.
i don't know what Mercur12 means by " not optimized". Prusaslicer fully supports it. Remaining printing time is shown while printing (display is identical to Mk4 or Mini or XL, all printers with Buddy board).
Upgrade price is more than a cup of Starbucks coffee but I'm happier than I thought I would be after the upgrade.

RE: Should I upgrade from an MK3S to the MK3.5?
I'm sorry, but my experience is different and there are some posts from users who are equally unhappy about the MK3.5 update.
e.g. The display of the MK3.5 is identical to the MK4, but important information is not displayed. (Maybe @fuchsr would be so kind and post a photo showing this information on a MK3.5 display ! without PrusaLink/-Connect).
The MBL does not work properly on the left edge of the print bed. If you only print in the middle of the print bed, you won't notice it. But when the print bed is filled, the differences in adhesion become clear. I don't think the printing results are any better than the original MK3S+.
On the contrary, much more scrap is produced than before. Also see this post: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/postid/708962/

Rotates between time spent, remaining time, time at end of print, and I think time to next change (but I'm not sure about the last and too lazy to go to the workshop).

Has been fixed in recent firmware upgrade.

RE: Should I upgrade from an MK3S to the MK3.5?
@fuchsr: thats new for me as I never printed from USB-Stick.
Why I can't see this while printing via Octoprint ? How does the printer get and update these informations ?
By analysing the G-Code in its firmware, or they are included in the received G-Code and the printer only displays them ?
Btw: The firmware update concerning the MBL is now better, but not perfect at all. Because of the right outside position of the pinda, its not able to mesure the left side of the Heatbed. Therefor for this area is the Z-Position only interpolated.
