RE: Review: Prusament PC Blend
@3dprintingscience
Charles posted a pretty decent review of it.
I’m planning on finding out next weekend. I’ve got a spool of Urban gray and a spool of jet black on the way now, they should be here Wednesday. I just finished printing all the extruder/X carriage parts in Polymax PC. I’ll do the same thing next weekend using the PC blend and see how they turn out.
For reference purposes I’m using a third party PEI powder coated plate from tthheekkiinngg(it’s a v4 plate) and no glue stick of adhesion aid. All settings were stock for the Polymaker PC profile except for Grid infill at 20%, and auto cooling checked because I had some issues with some small surface area layers not solidifying before the next layer being deposited.
Great prints, yeah the review is great, i was just wondering whether he had more accurate data (like CNC kitchen).

What sort of mechanical performance are you interested in? I'm using PC mainly for its heat handling characteristics due to the proximity of these parts to the hot end. I could have used Polymaker Polymide CoPA which is even better than PC for heat resistance but I'm not sure I'm going to need a heat resistance that high.
I would be more interested in the impact resistance (thats what PolyMax PC is known for). Yeah PolyMide CoPA is a great material, I saw the 3d printing general (youtuber) video and was amazed!

I have to agree. Polymide CoPA is fantastic and the heat resistance and tensile strength of Polymaker CoPA is unbelievable.

I found a new technique. I apply a particular glue stick and use a plastic razor blade To wipe off excess. The first print had a little tenuous adhesion, but second through print ten, adhere and remove much easier.

I know you mentioned the heatbed temp being an issue on the Mini, but did you ever try it?
RE: Review: Prusament PC Blend
Is it really necessary or highly recommended to replace the printer parts before printing PC Blend? So far my printer prints fine with PETG and PLA. I worry that if I replace the parts, the printer may not function as well as it is right now.
RE: Review: Prusament PC Blend
Actually if I need to print strong frames, should I go for PCB, PETG or PLA? I recall reading a study that PLA is stronger than PETG at least in that study. What is the different between Tensile Yeild Strengh (which PCB is the best) and Impact Strength Charpy (which PETG scores better than PCB).
RE: Review: Prusament PC Blend
I have not seen a material as tough as PC Blend that I can print this easy.

OK. Do I need to replace the parts of my printer to do this well?

No.

I printed a test piece
Good news is that the printer survived and that the piece works. The bad news is that it sticks to itself like crazy and I had to use a lot of brute force in order to get it moving. But that is also good news, parts should have good layer adhesion.

Did you use a glue stick?
Try UHU glue sticks. Rub it on the bed you need to use and then wipe off the excess with a https://www.amazon.com/FOSHIO-Scrapers-Contoured-Refillable-Application/dp/B076BBW1WM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?crid=5YSLSRN491SW&dchild=1&keywords=plastic+razor+blade+scraper&qid=1592089752&s=hi&sprefix=plastic+razor,tools,225&sr=1-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExSU5NMDFGS0JLVk9IJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDYwNDQzMlRGTzFGUkNRSkRaQyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwODU5MjIwMUIxWjg2TzBENURFMCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=&linkCode=ll1&tag=chuckh1967-20&linkId=85fac25ed42c11620c5306ffc2d6b21d&language=en_U S" target="true">plastic scraper/razor blade. I get about 6-8 print until I have to reapply. If there are any adhesion issues on the first print, you got it too thick, but don't fret, the next one will be fine.

Yes, I used the provided glue stick.
The model is modeled so you can print it in one piece. So on the parts where there is a separation in layers it still bonded together. Usually this is not a problem on PLA or even PETG, ASA. But in this case it bonded like crazy.
Here is the layer 17 with bridging section:

Sorry, let me try that again. I messed that up. I have been testing glue sticks and UHU brand so far work much better than Kores.

Print extruder parts. Start with fan shrouds. This stuff is great. Never print without glue stick. Consider a dedicated print sheet.

Hi @charles-h13, for the UHU glue sticks, does it matter whether they are white or blue (with blue caps at the end)?

Thanks. If I print white PCB, will it be discolored into blue?

The glue is water soluble, so maybe. I will order some what sticks and let you know if they work.

Thanks. I saw one with the word "Magic" on it. Is it the same thing?
