Try running the first layer calibration. I found I had to recalibrate when printing with Duramic PETG white. The first layer is flatter than I would like. Prusa PETA also seems more forgiving

Ive observed Duramic is much more gobby and stringy. I'm running a .6 nozzle on a textured bed.

RE: Review: Duramic PETG

Thanks cwbullet, generic PETG settings in Prusa finally worked. The "trick" seemed to be washing the textured PEI plate with Dawn dishwashing detergent. After the washing I was able to get a good first layer. Before the washing I was good about wiping with 90% isopropal alcohol, but guess that wasn't enough.

The Duramic silver is opaque like Hatchbox. Duramic silver has a matt finish though, not semi-gloss like Hatchbox.

RE: Review: Duramic PETG

I think I've found my brand for printing my belt. Duramic is true to their advertising and it strings much less than Prusament and Hatchbox.

These belt links are a nightmare for stringing. The small channels have tons of travels in them. This pic is fresh after printing. What stringing there is easily rubbed/pulled off. I don't bother trying to clean up the channels which are only 3mm wide.

cwbullet, thanks for your review. Glad I tried Duramic.

Can you send me a link to those files?  I would like to use them as a test print.

I ran into a trick last week to remove strings from PETG.  If you have a gas stove, turn the burner on and lightly run the part over the flame.

A lighter won't work since the yellow flame will leave black carbon residue on the part, but a blue flame works like a charm.  It doesn't get hot enough to affect the integrity of the part.

I would love to hear if anyone thinks this is a bad idea 🙂 I'm learning.

@minimays

you can get two types of kitchen gas lighter, one has the lazy yellow flame, and the other, which is usually termed turbo, has a noisy, well defined, conical,  blue flame...  this second type of lighter is much easier to use

If my chemistry is fresh enough in my mind, the blue is also hotter.

@cwbullet

indeed Yellow is carbon rich, hence the smuts on the plastic,
Blue is oxygen rich and burns cleaner/ hotter and more directional.

It oxidises the plastic, rather than carborising it!

+1 on Wagner. Wagner is good and a decent price less than $50.  You can shop around and find them cheaper but the Wagner comes with a hard case and handy concentrator tools.

Thanks Chuck yes it does come with a hard case and handy concentrator tools. I also use it at work on Military basis drying out electronics less paper work if it works

Un Pocito - a small amount.  If there is anything the Government is good at, it is paperwork.  Creating a lot of it that is.

Duramic (is) Polymaker under a different label - probably some cost optimization done somewhere in the pipeline.

Does anyone know the flammability rating for this filament?

RE: Review: Duramic PETG

Well, I ran a scientific method and tried burning the filament with a lighter. It burned and started on fire, but would not stay on fire when I took the lighter away. 🙂

I suspected the same.  Looks like they have changed the wrapping and it looks more obvious that they are the same.
