Reporting Spam in Prints?

Is there any way to report spamming in the print section? Someone keeps loading supposed files that contain 10,000! models. All it does is take you to a site where you have to pay for them. It's super annoying because they keep re-posting them all the time so they are always showing for the newest print files. Current person is janp69

Hi,

You have the Report button for that. It seems these people have been targeting our forums for quite a while. User reporting helps us to remove them quicker, and it is most welcome.

Interesting post.

I mentioned the same thing a couple of days ago in this post:

https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/english-forum-general-discussion-announcements-and-releases/random-flash-poll-december-8th-2021/

I'll look more carefully for the report button next time....

There is an obvious button in the Forums, but the report function in Prints is harder to find. After I read your post, I went looking for it. Unfortunately, I had to waste my time looking for it and finally found it by opening the print(which no one wants to do with spam) and the report function was buried under the barely visible 3 dots to the right of the title.

There should be a report button on the image on the main page so legitimate user can report it without having to waste their time by going 3 level done. Many times I have given up trying to report those exact same fake prints because the light grey dots are virtually invisible, like someone doesn't want me to find them.

Would this be considered, spam? it comes up immediately when you click on "all popular prints" link.

https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/92899-buy-it-in-our-store-now

It's defiantly spam to me, but I have no idea what Prusa intends for their model repository.

the spam button for me is hidden as 3 dots  ...

Is this the direction Prusa is intending to go, or has already gone?

That is the spam I'm talking about in my OP. It shows up all the time.

Thanks for the help. It looks like the report button is hiding in the 3 little dots to the right of the file name when you click on the link.

RE:

@swiss_cheese Thanks for reporting that spam entry! It is already taken care of.

As kennd pointed out users can report dubious entries directly from the offending page using the three dots menu next to the entry name.

@kennd  I am sorry I did not make that explicit in my post. I hate when I am given incomplete instructions so I hate to be that guy too.

Please note that while some of these spam posts may go through, this is not an intended outcome.

Like in the forums, some spam eventually gets through until it is later found and removed.

Do not hesitate to report any spam entries you find. It really helps!

To report an obvious spammer, you don't have to go into its fake print. Just click on the author name, then click the three dots menu at the right of the author image. Click on Report, Select Spam and Send.

PrusaPrinters teams should have some exclude filters  when a print is created or modified. For example to exclude link only description, some domain in URLs contained, some combination of words, etc. It would make the spammers work in a little bit harder and moderators work easier.

should have some exclude filters when a print is created or modified.

This quickly degenerates into the sort of arms race where spammers analyse and automate the attack in response to the countermeasures.  There are ways to combine delay and tailored responses to convince all but the largest scale spammers they are doing far better than they are whilst painlessly protecting users from the worst of it.

Either way, Prusa need to address this and other problems of success that are making the parts database unuseable.

Cheerio,

I didn't even know those dots were there as they are virtually invisible to me until you pointed them out. I was always concerned with the user experience when I was programming(even if it made it harder for me) so I stand by putting the "report" button on the image. Users shouldn't have to look for important features.

Do not hesitate to report any spam entries you find. It really helps!

I think more people would report it if it was easier to do. 🤤

RE:

Hello all;

a couple of things about this particular topic / post.

We are aware of it and are working on it. It has been addressed and things have been done. Now I am not going to go into details on the actions that are being taken as that would basically showing all our cards in a poker game. As annoying as it is for you guys to see it, it's more annoying on our side to monitor the site and then do the extra work to prevent a pretty pitiful excuse of a person who is steeling other peoples work and trying to make some cash for themselves.

Now, as said, there are things being done in general to help prevent this and future similar posts and when that is ready we will let everyone know. But in the mean time please be patient with us and know that we are doing things to resolve this.

Thanks 🙂

PS. I took notes as far as what you guys wrote about the reporting feature.

Looks like a perfect task for automatic learning (AI), trained by humans who click on "report" 😉
