Replacement Parts

We are new to 3d printing. We would like to make some replacement parts for our printer--just in case. When I look at the PRUSA page for replacement parts it says to use settings of " 0.2 mm layer height, infill 20% GRID and material PETG" When I look at Prusa Control - it does not seem to have a GRID setting. Is that the default in Prusa Control or will I need to use Slic3R that was a Grid Fill pattern option. Just want to make sure I make working replacement parts.

It's been a while since I used PrusaControl, but IIRC, it uses the rectangular grid infill by default.

FWIW, Slic3r PE wasn't that hard to pick up--just take it slowly--you likely won't have to change much at first, anyway. 😉

I've printed parts before and more recently the Extruder R3 upgrade for two MK3's and didn't have a problem with Slic3r. I really haven't used PrusaControl other than to look at it a few itmes.
If they both do pretty much the same thing why does Prusa have to programs? Is one used more for another function?

Thank you both for your replies. Slic3r looked like it had a lot of options. Looking forward to learning more about them. Good idea to start without making a lot of changes from the defaults.

If they both [Slic3r PE and PrusaControl (PC)] do pretty much the same thing why does Prusa have to programs? Is one used more for another function?

PC was/is intended to get first-timers going quickly--load an STL file, slice it and print, using (primarily) simple default settings.

Slic3r PE is a much more detailed slicer, with more control over "the minutiae". 😀

Ironically, the names seem to be transposed, Slic3r sounding simpler, while PrusaControl sounding like there ought to be more control. I think the reason for this is in the history of Slic3r. Prusa adapted it as a slicer for their printers, changing the name to Slic3r PE (Prusa Edition).
AFAIK, the original Slic3r is still out there...

Thanks for the response, that makes sense. I actually migrated away from PrusaControl because it was too simple.

As most of us do... eventually. 😉

There are a LOT more free slicers out there... free slicer software
I don't have any experience with others than slic3r PE (yet--for now it's serving my needs), but I'm sure others may/will opine on the pros/cons of the other major ones. ALL3DP has a good (IMO) comparison of most of them.
